What’s HemaClear®?
HemaClear® is a sterile, single-use exsanguination and occlusion device
HemaClear®
HemaClear® is an elastic silicone ring wrapped around by an elastic sleeve. It comes equipped with straps and handles. When the handles are pulled, the HemaClear® rolls up the limb (photograph & video). This causes the blood to be squeezed out.
HemaClear® stops blood flow where it is parked. The HemaClear® location depends on the location of surgery. For example:
- On the upper thigh, near the groin for knee surgery
- On the ankle for foot surgery
- On the upper arm for elbow surgery
- On the forearm for hand surgery
All HemaClear® models are sterile and are always for single-patient use. They are cut away and discarded at the end of surgery. HemaClear® has been shown in many scientific studies to be safer than the historical pneumatic tourniquet in use since 1908.
